Billericay Youth Town Council was formed in 1998. It consists of twenty Youth Councillors who are elected for a two year term of office with the elections held in local secondary schools. The most recent elections were in October 2021. The next elections will take place in October 2023.

The Youth Councillors meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month during term time between 5pm-6pm at the Council Offices.

One of the benefits of being a Youth Councillor is experiencing democracy at work from the inside and being able to present the youth view to the main Town Council. Being a Youth Councillor is a great way to experience working in a team for the benefit of the community.

Over the years Youth Councillors have instigated and participated in a number of projects and events. Youth Councillors were instrumental in the design and provision of the Skatepark, Teen Equipment and the Multi Use Sports Area in Lake Meadows. They have organised the Urban Games which has taken place in the Skatepark a number of times and they help other organizations with marshalling at local events. The Youth Town Council also hold sales events to raise funds for local charities as well as organising a music night every year to showcase the talent of young people in the Town.
