Billericay Town Council Celebration of Christmas Lights 2017

Our young citizen of the year April Simmonds and her brother Fraser were our guests of honour for the switching on of the Christmas Lights in the High Street. Our citizen of the year Carl Roberts lead the countdown and April switched on the lights. They were joined on stage by the Town Crier and Father Christmas as well as members of the Billericay Youth Council who were dressed in fancy dress and led the Carol singing.

Before the switch on the crowds were entertained by the Salvation Army Band and Harmony Brass Ensemble, choirs from St Peters, Mayflower and Woodlands schools and a performance from Dance Steps Academy.

Cllr Jim Devlin, Chairman of the Town Council thanked everyone who took part in the celebrations and thanked all the service organisations that helped make the event run smoothly especially Billericay Lions, 2393 (Billericay) Squadron Air Cadets and the Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower.

The Town Council would also like to thank all the High Street shops and businesses that sponsored the lights. This year new lights have been installed at the beacon on Sun Corner and the trees by Western Road and even the trees at the War Memorial looked festive in their new lighting scheme.
