New Chantry Way Building

Chantry Way new building

If you’ve travelled between the High Street and Chantry Way recently you’ll have noticed that construction of the new Town Council community building has moved on swiftly. All of the brick and block work has now reached roof height and the main support struts across the roof have been installed.

January should see further visible progress. Early in the month the roof will arrive and be fitted. The block walls will be rendered and towards the end of January the windows are scheduled to be delivered and installation started. Internally work on the ducting will start.

February will see the scaffolding coming down - at which point we will really be able to appreciate the shape of the new building.
Behind the scenes final decisions are being made about internal colour schemes and carpeting whilst work will begin on a long list of items including the internal fit out (for example furniture), planning the cutover from our current offices in Crown Yard, and all the administrative issues such as room hiring processes and procedures so that they are in place for when construction completes in July.
