Cllr Frank Tomlin

It was with great sadness that Billericay Town Council received the news that Frank Tomlin, one of our former councillors had passed away on 26th March. Frank was widely known throughout the whole of the Basildon District and worked tirelessly for the community for over 50 years in public service.

Frank is probably best remembered as a Basildon Councillor and for many years represented a Billericay ward although in later life he represented the Laindon Park ward in Basildon. Frank was Chairman of Basildon Council for a number of years and also Chairman of the Billericay Conservative Association.

As he got older he eventually decided to hang up his hat and retired from Council life. However four years ago when Billericay Town Council found itself short of members Frank answered the call and stepped in to help.

Frank brought a wealth of experience to the Town Council and was always there to offer advice. As Chairman I particularly found Frank’s advice and support useful. However as time went by Frank felt unable to continue and late last year he resigned from the Council citing ill health. Despite that he continued to proof read the Town Crier for us, a job he was particularly good at.

Our sympathy goes to his wife Stella and his family in their time of grief.
