The Town Council held their last meeting of 2023 on Thursday 14 December and would like to welcome Jessica Leung who was co-opted onto the vacant seat in the West Ward. Despite only living in Billericay for two years, Jessica loves the town and is looking forward to working hard on behalf of residents.

Councillors also discussed their response to the police station closure. The Town Council were asked for their comments on the proposed closure of the police station in the summer of 2024. Members raised some issues and concerns, and these will be sent to Adam Pipe, Head of Roads Policing. The comments can be found in the minutes from the meeting of 14 December.

Councillors also voted to raise the precept by 1.05%. This means that the billing amount for a Band D property will rise by just 0.27p per year from £25.74 to £26.01.
