Chantry Centre is New Community Hub for Barclays

Published: 23 August 2022

Billericay Town Council is pleased to advise our residents that Barclays Bank will offer a two day per week face-to-face service on Mondays and Wednesdays (9am to 5pm) in our building - the Chantry Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay commencing on 31st August. Barclays will be in Meeting Room 2 on the first floor (lift available). There is no parking on site, but public car parking is available at Waitrose or behind Santander in the High Street.

Town Council Chairman Cllr Jo Clark said “the Town Clerk negotiated the use of the Chantry Centre with Barclays Bank and this was agreed unanimously by members at a Council meeting on 16th June. Since then the Council staff have been working hard to get everything in place so that Barclays could start here just one week after the Billericay branch closes.”

Stuart Pugh, Barclays Customer Care Leader said: “We’re delighted we will be able to operate from the Chantry Centre from 31st August and they have made us feel very welcome. Customers will still have access to general advice and help with basic banking, such as transfers between accounts, change of address, opening of savings and ISA accounts, setting up mobile banking and amending direct debits and standing orders. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new location – please do call in and say hello as you’re sure to see some familiar faces.”

John Baron MP said: “I am pleased that Barclays has recognised the need to provide an in-person service in Billericay and for understanding that customers may not wish to, or cannot, engage with telephone and online banking methods. I encourage customers to use this service based at the Chantry Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays to ensure its ongoing future viability.”
